The CARES ACT provides an additional $600 per week on top of the State’s regular payment BUT the State has not yet announced how it will distribute these funds to recipients.
The CARES ACT explicitly expands unemployment to those not traditionally eligible – the self-employed, 1099s, “gig” workers, etc. BUT the State of Florida has not yet accepted/incorporated this eligibility expansion into its program.
While the system is crashing, the most recent posts from DEO recommends the following: Any Floridian whose employment has been negatively impacted as a result of COVID-19 to visit FloridaJobs.org and click on Reemployment Assistance Service Center to learn more about the program and watch a short video on how to apply.
