From the Base to Big Pine Key: A Day of Service and Smiles

On August 6th, 2025, we had the privilege of welcoming the 920th First Sergeants Group from Patrick Air Force Base to Big Pine Key for an unforgettable volunteer build day.

This remarkable crew rolled up their sleeves and worked side-by-side with future homeowner Jennifer Cepero and her two children, helping to bring Jennifer’s dream of a safe, stable home closer to reality.

From the very first hammer swing, their enthusiasm was contagious. They laughed, encouraged one another, and powered through every task with determination — so much so, they didn’t want to stop when the day came to an end!

We also want to extend a heartfelt thank-you to UpTheKeysTours for donating the use of a van to transport the group from the base to Big Pine. This extra step made it possible for the 920th First Sergeants to join us, and it truly brought the day full circle.

Moments like these remind us what’s possible when communities come together — across counties, across backgrounds, and across branches of service — to help build a better future for our neighbors.

To the 920th First Sergeants Group — thank you for your service, your generosity, and your heart for our Habitat family.
