Speak Out.

Your advocacy for increasing access to stable, affordable housing is needed now more than ever. We are facing a persistent and mounting housing affordability crisis, with a pronounced impact in working class and low-income communities.

Here in the Keys, you can make your belief in access to decent, affordable housing known by contacting your city or county commissioners, speaking out at city and county meetings, writing letters to the editor, and sharing your values with others in the community.

It is also important to advocate with our Florida state legislators. The Sadowski Housing Coalition, a nonpartisan collection of 38 statewide organizations which came together with the goal of obtaining a dedicated revenue source for Florida’s affordable housing programs, provides a step-by-step guide to talking to your legislators about affordable housing here.

Habitat for Humanity works on a local and national level to promote concrete, practical public policy housing solutions, ensuring that more families can find appropriate, quality, affordable housing across the U.S.

In 2019, we launched a five-year campaign to mobilize local Habitat organizations, partners, volunteers and community members across the country. Through our Cost of Home campaign, we are finding the solutions and helping to create the policies that will allow 10 million individuals to have access to stable, affordable homes.
